VOTE Jennifer Ehrentraut - #4 on the Ballot!!!
I’m thankful to have the support of my Mom and sisters as I’ve embarked on this journey to run to be elected to continue serving on the Hawthorne Board of Education. (From L to R: Amanda, Me, Mom & Kimmy)
We have been through a lot together over the years and are all unique in our own ways. But if anyone knows how passionate I am about education and giving back to the community, it’s definitely these three women. They, (along with my Dad who is unfortunately no longer physically with us), are the ones who know I’m an eternal student, optimist, and am continuously working to improve and contribute to our community.
My family experiences have taught me, “We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give”. This comes from my parents and grandparents who generously volunteered and donated their time as fire fighters, on the rescue squad, as girl scout troop leaders, class moms, volunteer coaches and more. It is a true gift to be involved and contribute to our community in the ways in which we can. As an alumni of the Hawthorne Public Schools I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back and serve on our Board of Education.
My sisters and I are all a year apart, so we were classmates and Hawthorne Bears teammates during most of our time at Hawthorne High School. Of course we have our moments like any sisters might but at the end of the day, we have each other’s backs. They’ve supported me when I studied abroad and visited me at Fairleigh Dickinson University Wroxton College in the United Kingdom, along with our mom. They thought it was cool when I went and lived in a tent and taught at a yoga school in the Bahamas… and they’ve always stood in the crowds when I’ve spoke at anti-bullying events. Now they’re by my side with my new lawn signs!
I am a homegrown leader in our community and it's an honor to have been selected by the current Board to fill the vacant role back in March.
I am grateful for this opportunity and will continue to work hard for all of the students, families, district staff and our community. I will continue to ensure that students are provided with the best possible education and an accepting and supportive environment to thrive on a daily basis.
I do not have children in the district or any self-serving ideology. I bring fresh ideas and a fair perspective to the Board. I am committed to the time and energy required of a BOE Trustee and will think strategically in line with the growth, interest and success of our students and the community. In my short time on the Board thus far, I am confident in working as a part of the team that is dedicated to driving our district forward!
